“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Where were you born and/or raised?
I was born in Utica, New York and moved out to the country on the outskirts of the small of Holland Patent, New York.
How long have you lived in Crested Butte?
I have lived in CB for a little over a month now.
Why did you choose to work with people with disabilities?
Beginning as a Mechanical Engineering major I found that I was not satisfying my need to be around people. While researching new schools, I stumbled on a Therapeutic Recreation program. Before even calling the school I had already decided to be in that major. After taking a few of my first classes and volunteering I knew I found a profession that would keep me happy and satisfied every day.
How did you come to work with the ASC? How long have you been here?
I applied to another internship before the ASC, and through a series of unfortunate events the said internship would not harbor any interns that semester. With a little encouragement from Robbie Perez, a previous intern, I applied to the ASC, which was my number one choice. As some staff may know, I was very persistent. The day after my interview I was offered the internship and now I am a month deep into work at a truly amazing organization.
How long have you been skiing/snowboarding?
I learned how to ski when I was young with my father at a small mountain called Woods Valley near my home. After a long absence from the sport I dusted off the old skies and started up again on a limited basis working with Greek Peak Adaptive Sports in New York one to two times a week. Now I ski almost every day!
