“Life is either a great adventure or nothing.” -Helen Keller
Emily grew up biking, skiing, hiking and camping in the mountains of New Hampshire. After graduating from high school, Emily moved to Crested Butte to enjoy all CB has to offer before heading off to Colorado College. In 2004 Emily graduated from CC with a BA in Political Science. Emily spent the next several years working in affordable housing nonprofits in Colorado Springs. Emily’s next move was to Denver to pursue her career in the nonprofit sector and a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management at Regis University. Emily graduated from Regis University in December 2009 and promptly returned to Crested Butte. In her free time, Emily can be found telemark skiing, mountain biking, hiking, running or just enjoying the sunshine.
Where were you born and/or raised?
How long have you lived in Crested Butte?
Going on 5 years this time. I lived here during the summers from 1999-2004 and moved back full time in 2009.
Why did you choose to work with people with disabilities?
There are many contributing factors that make my position at the ASC a great fit for me. First, I have chosen to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector. Second, outdoor recreation has always played an important role in my life and is integral to who I am. My position at the ASC has allowed me to combine these two aspects of my life. I enjoy having a job that allows me to use my professional skills to enlarge the community of people who have access to the outdoor recreation that I value so highly.
