Program Supervisor
BA in Outdoor Leadership and History From Warren Wilson College PSIA Level 1 Adaptive Ski Instructor

"There are only so many powder days in life."

Coming from just outside Nation’s Capital in historic Kensington, MD, Pat fell in love with the outdoors exploring the many trails, caves, and waterfalls of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. Pat joined the Adaptive Sports Center in 2010 after spending two years serving as Youth Development and Chapter Services Coordinator for Disabled Sports USA, coordinating various adaptive sports programs and events across the country. Prior to that, Pat graduated with a BA in Outdoor Leadership from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC and worked with a variety of outdoor programs in the Southeast. In his off time, Pat enjoys climbing, cycling, running, skiing, snowboarding, or just about any excuse to be outside.

Where were you born and/or raised?

Kensignton, Maryland

How long have you lived in Crested Butte?
Since October 2010

Why did you choose to work with people with disabilities?
I enjoy the non-routine and added challenge.  As a facilitator/professional you have to constantly be re-thinking how you approach every activity and have some humility and willingness to fail while exploring the various options and adaptations for each unique individual.  Then, when you do succeed there is more shared investment between the client and staff member and both grow even more from this success.

How did you come to work with the ASC? How long have you been here?
I came to work with the ASC directly from Disabled Sports USA.  I sought out a position with the organization because of its outstanding reputation in the industry and a desire to be more closely connected to participants. I have been employed full-time year round since October 2010.

How long have you been skiing/snowboarding?
The first time I ever skied was in 5th grade, but truly I learned to ski when I moved to Crested Butte in 2010.
