Man Biking

The Adaptive Sports Center’s adaptive horsemanship program is located at Cochetopa Hideaway Ranch right outside of Gunnsion, Colorado, and accredited by the Certified Horseman Association. Working with horses offers physical and cognitive benefits that will ripple to other areas of your daily life. Our horse program head Instructor, Mike Fahrlander, is a Certified Horseman Association Instructor for Riders with Disabilities and is dedicated to helping you reach your goals. Along with the help of additional Instructors and Volunteers, Mike’s full-day, arena-based adaptive horsemanship program includes a ranch orientation and instruction on grooming, tacking and arena riding.

The Adaptive Sports Center's Adaptive Horsemanship program is unique as it allows for private use of the Cochetopa Hideaway.  You and your family/group will work one-on-one with Mike to improve your horsemanship and riding skills.

"The riding lessons were phenomenal. Frankly, I was expecting to get a quick introduction to adaptive horseback riding and then get a trail ride where the horses just played follow-the-leader. I was very pleasantly surprised that we were given lessons in horsemanship instead. Mike proved to be an expert teacher along with Jan, Paul and Carol. They were able to teach us how to tack up the horses and safely walk and trot around various obstacles."
