Explore scenic Rocky Mountain highways and quieter back roads on a high-tech bicycle that is propelled entirely by arm strength. Ride alongside rivers and fields of wildflowers on gently rolling terrain, or crank up the heat on a challenging climb. Road biking provides opportunity to maximize mileage with smooth riding and is a recreational outlet that can be transferred to any place with paved roads. Our fleet of bikes includes handcycles and recumbent bikes along with standard road bikes through a partnership with a local bike shop, The Alpineer.
Full and half day lessons start and end at our new, accessible summer outfitting facility, The Adaptive Building, in downtown Crested Butte. Take the opportunity to learn about road biking and different equipment options with the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, and return home with newfound independence and freedom.
For all adaptive biking programs, please wear longer shorts or pants and bring sunglasses and a water bottle.
Private lessons are for individuals with disabilities/special needs, or family members who want one-on-one instruction.
Group lessons are for individuals who do not need private or adaptive instruction and are of similar climbing ability.
Instructor to participant ratios are at the discretion of the ASC and vary by activity. Ratios are based on overall requirements of the participant(s) experience, complexities of necessary adaptations, overall activity risk management and logistics and the unique overall group management needs.
