The People

The Adaptive Sports Center has one of the most qualified instructor teams in the industry. All of our winter and summer instructors are professionally certified through education associations like Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. The average tenure of an instructor at the Adaptive Sports Center is over seven years. Many have shunned the traditional desk job and year-round employment to skillfully and deliberately turn their seasonal work at the Adaptive Sports Center into a full-fledged career. Also, many of the people organizing the programs are Certified Recreational Therapists with extensive backgrounds in therapeutic recreation services. We do what we do because we can't imagine any other work as satisfying.

The Mountain

Mt. Crested Butte and the beautiful surrounding valley provides stunning mountain views with wide open spaces. Whether a beginner, intermediate or expert, the mountain offers vast terrain for skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and biking. Don't forget to bring your camera when you visit the "wildflower capital of Colorado."

The Town

Crested Butte is a colorful, renovated historic mining town full of charm and life, where everyone is your friend. Crested Buttians live their lives by the seasons. They live for adventure. The energy can be felt as soon as you enter town, and it stays with you long after you leave. Crested Butte is a true paradise with fresh mountain air, stunning views, and a calming creek that meanders through town.

Crested Butte is located three miles down the road from the base of Mt. Crested Butte with a free, accessible bus. We have identified all of the accessible dining and lodging options, and commit to helping you have a stress-free trip. Come start your adventure with us in Colorado's "last great ski town!"

The Facilities

The Adaptive Sports Center's main offices are located at the base of Mt. Crested Butte and serve as the hub of winter programming. After a recent expansion we also now have a summer outfitting facility in the town of Crested Butte. Our facilities extend beyond the walls of our offices to an enormous amount of terrain including Cochetopa Hideaway Ranch, Crested Butte Nordic Center, Lake Irwin and beyond. Learn more about our facilities here.

The Gear

Our Equipment Manager and staff of gearheads strive to maintain an up-to-date fleet of premiere adaptive equipment and know no boundaries when tailoring a piece of equipment to your needs. Through research and collaboration we've built our arsenal of everything from monoskis to off-road handcycles. Our outdoor gear — and ability to adapt it — is the primary ingredient in catering our programs to any ability level. Our equipment and gear knowledge is to our program like milk to cereal.
