About the 7 Hours of the Banana
|
|
Individuals: may ski/ride solo for all 7 hours (you may not compete on a team and in the solo category). You may stop/rest as often as you like. Laps will be counted each time you pass through the timing tent at the base area, located to skier’s left of the Silver Queen chair lift.
Teams: can be of any size, any age, and any number of team members can be skiing the Banana at any time (prizes will be awarded for most laps completed by a team). Team members may start at any time from the Silver Queen lift. Laps will be counted when you pass through the timing tent. Team captains are responsible for collecting and submitting team member’s waivers and entry fees. Please turn all forms and payment in together.
How it works: By 8:30 a.m. all participants must have located their skis at the designated area a short ways uphill of the starting line. Le Mans start at 8:50 a.m.: participants will run up to their skis and traverse above both chairlifts down to the Silver Queen lift. Competitors must use the dedicated lift line; do not use other lines open to the public (the Silver Queen will open early for the start). After riding the Silver Queen lift, competitors must ski/ride through the Banana/Flatiron Gate and ski the Banana. The runs to the west - Total Recall, Funnel and Sunset Ridge - can be skied/ridden if open. You may not exit at The Luge/Aspen Park Road.
To finish a lap: From the Banana exit, traverse under the West Wall chairlift across Buckley to Hocheman’s Trail. Continue toward the base area. To have your lap counted: ski through the support tent/ lap timing area just before the Silver Queen lift. Ski into the competitor’s lift line…REPEAT!
**Use CAUTION when approaching intersections…the mountain remains open to the public.**
Aid station: will be provided at the support tent/lap timing area.
Costumes: are encouraged!
Helmets: are required!
