ASC COVID-19 Policy and Participant Agreement

Updated November 26th, 2021

Together we can Adapt Responsibly

The Adaptive Sports Center (ASC) offers a highly interactive environment, and these policies are for the benefit of our community, staff and especially for our participants, many who have primary or underlying conditions that are COVID risk factors. We are happy to report that our entire staff and volunteers are fully vaccinated and we are ready to have some fun in the mountains.

Ages 12 and over:  The COVID-19 vaccine is required for this age group. The ASC will require participants 12 and over, and all non-participating persons accompanying the participant(s) into ASC facilities, to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.  All participants will be required to wear masks indoors at all times.  Masks are required outdoors when in chairlift lines and when stationary and within 6 feet of other participants, staff, and the general public.  Additional policies regarding vaccinated participants are listed below.

Ages 5 to 11:

  • Participation between November 26, 2021 and January 14, 2022
    • The ASC is strongly encouraging the COVID-19 vaccine for this age group, but is not requiring it during this timeframe.  If a participant is not vaccinated (participation prior to January 15, 2022), testing protocols listed below will need to be followed. All participants will be required to wear masks indoors at all times.  Masks are required outdoors when in chairlift lines and when stationary within 6 feet of other participants, staff, and the general public.   Additional policies regarding vaccinated and unvaccinated participants are listed below
  • Participation between January 15, 2022 and April 3, 2022
    • The COVID-19 vaccine is required for this age group. The ASC will require participants 5 and over, and all non-participating persons accompanying the participant(s) into ASC facilities, to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.  All participants will be required to wear masks indoors at all times.  Masks are required outdoors when in chairlift lines and when stationary within 6 feet of other participants, staff, and the general public. Additional policies regarding vaccinated participants are listed below.

Up to Age 4: This age group is not eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine at this time. All participants will be required to wear masks indoors at all times.  Masks are required outdoors when in chairlift lines and when stationary within 6 feet of other participants, staff, and the general public. Additional policies regarding unvaccinated participants are listed below.

Medically unable to be vaccinated:  A physician's letter is required for those medically unable to be vaccinated. All participants will be required to wear masks indoors at all times.  Masks are required outdoors when in chairlift lines and when stationary within 6 feet of other participants, staff, and the general public. More information can be found below under the Unvaccinated Participants section.

All ASC policies and guidelines are subject to change.

  2. Participant(s) and other visitors who will also be directly involved in programming will be asked to take a COVID-19 test within 3-4 days of their first day of programming.
  3. Anyone who tests positive or is unable to provide test results will not be allowed to participate.
  4. Tests are due to the ASC a minimum of 36 hours before the first day of programming.
  5. Lessons and activities will be postponed until results are provided.  Lessons are subject to cancellation if results are not received.
  6. Check with your local testing provider on the timing of the result and plan accordingly. You can find a testing site here.
  7. If participating on a weekly basis, the ASC is requiring a new negative test result each week.
  8. After your test, please practice "safer-at-home" as best as possible.
  9. Participants must be independent in their basic activities of daily living (ADLs) or will be accompanied by someone who can assist. Participants must also be in need of minimal physical assistance during their ASC-associated activities. Basic activities of daily living (ADL) are defined here.
  10. You are advised not to participate in ASC programming if you are unvaccinated and part of a population that is at high-risk for COVID-19 complications. Please follow this link to find out if you are at high-risk for severe illness due to COVID-19.
  11. Please be aware that medical resources in the Gunnison Valley are limited due to the rural healthcare system, with the closest level one trauma center 90 miles from Crested Butte. You can find more details about the Gunnison Valley healthcare system here.
  12. Before you depart for Crested Butte, make sure you are symptom-free by reviewing this full list of COVID-19 symptoms: COVID-19 Symptoms.
  13. Due to the fluid nature of the pandemic, the ASC highly recommends that individuals purchase travel insurance that includes, but is not limited to, travel, lodging, meals, and non-ASC rentals.
  14. If a cancellation occurs due to COVID-19, the ASC will consider refunds on a case-by-case basis for activity-specific fees. Accrued travel, logistics, and medical costs associated with the illness will be the responsibility of the participant.

MEDICAL EXEMPTIONS

In addition to the above policies for unvaccinated participants, the below is required for participation with a medical exemption:

Submit a letter from your primary physician confirming you cannot be vaccinated due to a medical consideration. A physician's note is not required for proof of age for those who are not old enough to receive the vaccine (at the time of publication under the age of 5).

  • Letter should be addressed to the ASC and include the physician's contact information.
  • Letter must be submitted to the ASC a minimum of 36 hours before first scheduled lesson.

DURING YOUR ADVENTURE

The well-being of our amazing participants, beloved instructors, and small community will continue to be a priority this season! Please adhere to the following policies and procedures as a sign of respect. Participants will be required to follow additional ASC polices as outlined below. This will not only help to make your visit as normal as possible, but will also protect those within our community who are not able to be vaccinated, such as those with an underlying medical condition.

ALL PARTICIPANTS (Vaccinated and Unvaccinated)

REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Masks will be required at all times while inside.
    2. Masks are required outdoors when in chairlift lines and when stationary within 6 feet of other participants, staff, and the general public. Those who cannot or will not maintain social distancing requirements will not be allowed to participate.
    3. Fully vaccinated participants will be required to comply with the Gunnison County Public Health Orders at the time of your visit.
    4. We know there are several additional ASC policies that apply to unvaccinated individuals. We appreciate your cooperation. However, if the ASC staff determines that a participant cannot comply with reasonable accommodations or refuses to meet his/her obligations, we will cancel the lessons scheduled.

What if there are signs and symptoms during your visit?

    1. If a participant is feeling moderate to severe symptoms after hours, they will be directed to call the local health care professionals and follow those directives. Gunnison County Public Health Hotline: 970-641-7660
    2. Participants and families must be able to accommodate personal medical needs if a participant or someone in their party becomes ill during the trip. Please be advised that this could include working directly with local health officials and services for medical care.
