Directions & Travel


Leaving Denver by car on the way to the secluded mountain town of Crested Butte, you will get to experience four hours of unbelievable mountain views. Be careful of the wildlife; elk is a common sighting, and you might be able to spot a Red Tailed Hawk, Bald Eagle or even a moose.


Take I70 West to exit 470 West, then take 285 South to Fairplay, then to Poncha Springs. Take Highway 50 West to Gunnison, then take highway 135 North into Crested Butte.

Colorado Springs

Take highway 24 West to 285 South to Poncha Springs, then take 50 West to Gunnison. From there take 135 North into Crested Butte.


Take I25 North through Trinidad to Walsenburg. Then take highway 160 West to Alamosa until 285 North to Saguache. Take highway 114 North to Highway 50 West into Gunnison. Then take 135 North into Crested Butte.

Gunnison - Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC)

With Gunnison being a short but scenic half-hour drive away from the town of Crested Butte, flights are available from Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH),  and Denver (DEN).

An accessible shuttle through the Alpine Express is available from Gunnison to Crested Butte and back. 

Montrose Airport (MTJ)

A beautiful one and a half-hour drive from Montrose to Crested Butte, you take highway 50 East to Gunnison, then take 135 North into Crested Butte.
