The Adaptive Sports Center offers college students and/or recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical work experience through our summer or winter internships. As an intern you will get hands on experience helping individuals with disabilities explore the outdoors in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The ASC offers internships for students studying Recreation, Community-Based Therapeutic Recreation, Outdoor Education, Recreation for Special Populations, Program Administration & Management, Psychology, Sociology, Physical Education, Business, Journalism, Marketing and Communications, Development/ Fundraising, Nonprofit Management and other related fields. We offer a variety of internships, including programming, marketing, and development. The deadline to apply for internships varies. See internship descriptions for details. Accommodations and Compensation Interns are provided housing as part of their compensation. They will live in a newly renovated and fully accessible building maintained and owned by the Adaptive Sports Center. Located in the town of Crested Butte, these accommodations are valued at $500 per month including utilities. Each with his/her own rooms, up to six interns live together for a full season. Terms of the lease are dictated by the Adaptive Sports Center and interns are asked to provide a refundable security deposit of $600 each, which will be held through the end of the season. It will only be deposited if charges are incurred. Winter interns are provided with a season ski pass, valued at more than $600. Interns are required to perform their internship in its entirety. A clear driving record with no violations in the last three years is a must. Finally, interns working in the field need to have a current CPR/First Aid Certification.
