Junior Guides Program

We are excited to offer our Junior Guides Program for the Summer of 2018.

The Junior Guide Program offers youth ages 16-18 (must have completed sophomore year of high school) the unique opportunity to work alongside our professional instructors in order to provide life changing activities to individuals with disabilities. There is one session available each summer. Junior Guides are provided with a two-day orientation, followed by a predetermined schedule assisting in all aspects of programming including event assistance, gear prep and maintenance, rigging and de-rigging for field experiences and time in the field with participants. Junior Guides are supervised and taught by the Adaptive Sports Center’s talented and professional staff. At the culmination of their experience, Junior Guides are asked to give a presentation to the staff of the Adaptive Sports Center on what they have learned, and give an example of a new program, piece of equipment, or idea they have to improve the program.

Six Junior Guide positions are offered each summer. We seek youth who are motivated, excited to learn, open to new ideas, and have the time to commit to this experience. There are several required dates for Junior Guides to assist with fundraising and participant events. These fundraising dates and predetermined program schedule of a minimum of five days are obligatory for participation. Our application, guidelines and timetable are below. Please feel free to contact Lindsay Hallvik (lindsay@adaptivesports.org) at the Adaptive Sports Center with any questions or concerns.

Three Junior Guides are accepted each session.

Session 1: June 12-July 14, 2017

Session 2: July 17-August 18, 2017
