Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Adaptive Sports Center! The Adaptive Sports Center is always in need of reliable volunteers to assist either in the field or office. Considered an essential part of the Adaptive Sports Center team, we utilize volunteers year-round based on their availability and skill level. We are accepting summer applications on a rolling basis. *ASC is no longer accepting Volunteer Applications for the 2017-2018 season* Winter Volunteer Opportunities Pass Volunteer As a Winter Pass Volunteer, you will team up with our Instructors on the hill one day a week (+5 extra days during busy times) in exchange for a CBMR ski pass. You will demo ski drills, lift and load sit-skiis or act as a as a “ski buddy” for a family member or friend of a participant with a disability. Some participants travel from across the country to visit us, while others are full time local residents. Volunteers with a passion for the outdoors will assist people with disabilities and contribute to their amazing experience with the ASC. A typical volunteer day runs 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Volunteers receive an hour lunch break from 12-1 p.m. Volunteers must be intermediate or advanced skiers or snowboarders. All volunteers must agree to a federal background check (every two years). All volunteers must pay the Background Check fee of $25 (every two years). Volunteers are required to attend trainings in November/December. The minimum age to volunteer with the ASC is 16. Pass Volunteer Application Cut-Off Date: Our cut-off date has passed. Please check back next winter! Non Pass Volunteer A non-pass volunteer will have the same responsibilities and experiences as a pass volunteer, but you can make your own schedule. Complete online Volunteer Application Pass Volunteer (All Pass Volunteer positions have been filled for the 2017-2018 Winter Season) Non Pass Volunteer 2. Complete Paperwork Federal Background Check DSUSA Liability Waiver (coming November 2017) Please sign and email to email@example.com, or bring it with you to a ASC Volunteer Happy Hour or Coffee Hour in November. 3. Pay the $25.00 Background Check Processing fee. Volunteers will receive an invoice via squareup.com once ASC Staff has received and approved the Volunteer Application. 4. Attend required training clinics (listed below). Required Training – (Pass & Non-Pass) All ASC Volunteers are required to attend training clinics in November and or December. Training clinics will no longer be available after Dec. 15th due to our busy season, so please make an effort to sign-up early! New Pass Volunteer: All new volunteers are required to attend the following training clinics in November or December: Program Foundations Intro to Sit Ski Lifting and Loading Cog 1 (introduction to cognitive disabilities) + Plus 2 elective training clinics New Non-Pass Volunteer: All new volunteers are required to attend the following training clinics in November or December: Program Foundations Intro to Sit Ski Lifting and Loading Cog 1 (introduction to cognitive disabilities) Returning Pass Volunteers “Program Updates” Clinic (1 hour) 3 Elective Training Clinics Returning Non-Pass Volunteers “Program Updates” Clinic (1 hour) How to sign-up for training clinics: ASC will send out the Volunteer Training Calendar in late-October and link to the ASC Volunteer Signup.com portal. You must sign-up though the portal to reserve your slot. Many dates and time-frames will be offered for each required training. Elective trainings may or may not have multiple offerings. A typical volunteer day runs 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. We will match you on activities where you have experience Volunteers provide their own lunch, and sometimes own transportation All volunteers must agree to a federal background check (every two years) Volunteers must attend an Orientation & Info Session and 1-2 technical skills sessions The minimum age to volunteer with the ASC is 16 Ready to Volunteer?
