DC Firefighter Burn Foundation 2017

If there was one word to describe the brave people who dedicate their lives to fighting fires for a living, it would be “persistence.” If there was a different word to describe those firefighters who’ve survived burns and continue their courageous jobs, it’s “resilience.“

Last week, we were happy to welcome nine energetic men from the DC Firefighter Burn Foundation back to the mountain. Each of this lively bunch of guys has a unique story about what brought them to the Adaptive Sports Center. Despite their varying backgrounds, they share in experiences and personal resilience, and they are nothing short of brothers when they’re skiing at Crested Butte.

There were a few days when snow and wind were pounding the group, but nothing could drive them inside. All these guys wanted to do was ski, and ski with each other. They could not be torn from the slopes or their brothers.
