Operation Rise & Conquer Makes an Impact

Operation Rise and Conquer

CRESTED BUTTE, COLORADO - Adaptive Sports Center continues its partnership with American Supply Association (ASA) this fall with our Operation Rise and Conquer program, which helps provide high-quality adventure activities for military service personnel and first responders who have a disability.

The program, which has been in effect since 2013, helps empower and inspire wounded soldiers and veterans to regain confidence and trust in themselves and others.

We thank all of our donors who have made a difference over the past six years, including helping us serve over 100 military service members and their families in 2018. Groups of veterans and first responders including from Brooke Army Medical Center, DC Firefighter Burn Foundation, Fort Carson, Grand Junction VA Medical Center, Team Racing 4 Veterans, Peace of Adventure, and Los Angeles VA all got to enjoy the high-quality adventure programming that Adaptive Sports Center has to offer because of the donations you have made.

Here's an example of how your Operation Rise and Conquer contribution can make an impact with the groups that visit Adaptive Sports Center:

Lonnie Bedwell, a Navy Desert Storm veteran with blindness and a 2015 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, brought his first group of five veterans to the Adaptive Sports Center in December 2017. Shortly after arriving in Crested Butte the group decided to name themselves “Operation B.A.S.H”, which stands for “Blind Adaptive Ski Heroes”. This group now visits the Adaptive Sports Center twice a year.

Check out this video to learn more about Lonnie and how Operation Rise and Conquer is changing lives:
