New Year, New Adventures!

A new year means change. It’s been 2017 for a few weeks now and with it has come plenty of new things already. For starters, we’ve seen 10 feet of fresh snow since the first of the year, and already we’ve hosted a variety of groups. We kicked off the New Year with the honor of having the Los Angeles Veterans Affairs with us. Roger Pepper Adventure Camp brought us some very enthusiastic teenagers, Mountain Mobility had a short but wonderful weekend with us, and the DC Burn Foundation is here this week and getting lucky with some clear and warmer weather conditions.

Another big change we are looking forward to will be the much anticipated addition of the Kelsey Write building. This new space is tailored entirely to fit the needs of those we serve and will allow us to grow and provide for even more people with disabilities. It will include expanded administrative and programming offices and accessible housing for our participants. Although we will not be breaking ground for quite some time, we are right on track to making our new dream home a reality.

This year is sure to bring a lot of change, not just here in our quiet little ski town, but all over the country and world. We want to make sure that we continue to create a safe, open, and welcoming environment for anyone and everyone. Our mission has always been to provide a service: make adaptive outdoor recreation available to anyone who seeks therapeutic experiences in our gorgeous valley and improve the quality of life for everyone who comes through our doors.

As we move further into the coming year, we look to each other, our phenomenal staff, dedicated volunteers, and outstanding participants as inspiration. Each one is a prime example of what we do and why we do it; providing accessible outdoor recreation to as many people as possible is what drives us forward. We believe that anyone should be able to experience the beauty of the natural world. We make things work; we are always looking for creative solutions to make being outside an option for everyone. In the approaching weeks, we look forward and welcome the changes and challenges that come with new years. We wish all of you a safe, happy, and healthy New Year, and from all of us at The Adaptive Sports Center, here’s to 2017 and to each of you.
