Where were you born and/or raised?
Waterville Valley, NH

How long have you lived in Crested Butte?
7 years

Why did you choose to work with people with disabilities?
I started volunteering in 7th grade for the Waterville Valley Adaptive Ski Program. The director of the program offered to be my mentor and encouraged me to join the program. I was allowed to skip school on Wednesday mornings and ski backwards in front of young children in sit skis. I would move my hands back and forth to indicate L and R. I loved every day that I was able to volunteer and found the experience challenging and rewarding. The winter volunteer program culminated in a presentation that I gave to our whole town about what I had learned. I continued to volunteer through college in Waterville Valley and in Colorado (while at CU Boulder) at Eldora Special Recreation Program and the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park.

How did you come to work with the ASC? How long have you been here?
I came to the ASC office in December of 2007. I had just moved to town and was hoping to volunteer and get involved with the program. After reviewing my application, I was offered a job. I couldn't believe that my dream job could come true in my dream ski town. I planned to stay for the winter. I'm still here.

How long have you been skiing/snowboarding?
My first ski lesson was at age 4. I cried the whole time. In middle school, I joined a weekend ski club and was hooked for life. I remember that we got to tuck and go straight down a very steep hill. It was the coolest thing ever.
